SPUD (Sustainable Produce Urban Delivery), a Canadian online grocery store, was awarded a winner of the Canadian Innovation Showcase by the National Zero Waste Council and Think Beyond Plastic.

The award was given for their most recent sustainability pilot project that has reinvented the relationship takeout food has with packaging. In the pilot, they delivered freshly-prepared meals in reusable takeout containers, which were later picked up, washed, and then reused.

Durham-USA

GreenToGo is a membership-based service for reusable containers for takeout and restaurant leftovers in Durham. It’s a check-in and check-out system for boxes: you check out a fresh box for your takeout or leftovers. You later return the used box to a GreenToGo drop-off bin in any of the participating restaurants, so it can be washed and sanitized in a commercial dishwasher, ready for the next customer.
